Terms, disclaimer and privacy
Short version: the software is free, it can operate real equipment, and you are responsible for what you do with it.
Licence and use
The software published on this site is supplied free of charge for professional use. You may install and use it, and pass on the original unmodified package. You may not sell it, or present it as your own work.
Intended users
These programs are intended for qualified electrical and commissioning personnel. Some of them communicate with protection relays, bay controllers and other plant equipment, and can issue control commands that operate circuit breakers and disconnectors in a real installation.
Before connecting any tool from this site to an installation, make sure you are working under a valid permit to work and the applicable safety procedure, that the effect of every command has been assessed, and that you are authorised to operate the equipment concerned. Test on a de-energised bay or a simulator first.
No warranty, no liability
The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose. It is not certified, type-tested or approved for any safety function, and it is not a substitute for calibrated test equipment.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author accepts no liability for any damage, loss, injury, plant outage, equipment failure or consequential loss arising from the use, misuse or inability to use this software, or from reliance on any result it produces. Every result must be verified by the responsible engineer.
Export and site rules
You are responsible for checking that using this software is permitted by your employer, your client and the rules of the site you are working on. Many plants restrict the connection of external computers and software to control and protection networks.
Privacy
This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no login. Nothing you do here is tracked or profiled.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts a Google server and Google sees your IP address. If you prefer to avoid that, the fonts can be hosted on this domain instead — write and say so.
If you send an email, that email and your address are stored in the mailbox and used only to answer you and to improve the software. They are never sold, published or passed to third parties. Ask and the message will be deleted.
