Between assignments I build the software I could not find on site, and publish it here for anyone doing the same work.
Scope of work
From installed to handed over
My work starts where construction ends: checking what has actually been built, testing it, energising it safely and proving to the client that it does what the drawings say. On superintendent assignments that means the full electrical function — construction supervision, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover.
The part that decides whether a project closes on time is rarely the testing itself. It is the documentation: inspection and test plans, procedures, records, punch lists, mechanical completion and ready-for-commissioning dossiers. That is where most of my tooling comes from.
- Systems
- HV/MV/LV switchgear, power and distribution transformers, MCC and LV switchboards, UPS and battery systems, emergency generators, earthing and lightning protection.
- PLC & automation
- Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500, S7-200 and LOGO!, programmed in TIA Portal; HMI panels and WinCC; PROFIBUS and PROFINET networks — configuration, commissioning and fault finding.
- Protection
- Relay setting, secondary injection testing, verification and coordination; ATS logic; cause & effect matrices.
- Documentation
- ITP preparation and management, test procedures and records, punch-list close-out, MC/RFC dossiers, final handover packages.
- Protocols
- IEC 61850, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet, RS-232/485.

Tools built on the panel door
Every program published here started as a problem on a live site: a test that took too long, a dossier that had to be typed twice, an IED that would not say what it was doing. They are written for the person holding the laptop in front of the switchgear, and they are free.
What I want back is feedback. If something is wrong, missing or awkward, tell me — that is the whole reason this page exists.
